A GUIDE TO COMPLETING THE ANC09
Creating Opportunities Fund (COF)

Please read the information carefully BEFORE completing the Application Form!

Background:

• The ANC09 Creating Opportunities Fund initiative has been established to provide financial support to interpreters from Developing Countries with a GDP of 15.000 (fifteen thousand) Australian dollars or lower to attend the ANC.
• Applications will be processed by a special committee.
• The fund will not cover 100 percent of the cost to attend the ANC09 event. The fund can be used to cover travel costs, accommodation costs, conference fees or combination of the above.
• The applicant is also expected to make some contribution or seek out other funding opportunities.
• Applications will be processed by a date agreed by the committee and the successful applicants will be notified by mail of how much funding has been approved and how it will be paid. They will also be informed of their obligations as a result of being successful.
• Unsuccessful applicants will be informed by mail outlining the reasons why their application has been unsuccessful.

Eligibility Criteria:

• The Applicant must be a signed language interpreter.
• The GDP of the Eligible country must be 15,000 (fifteen thousand) Australian dollars or less at the time of application.
• Preferences will be given to those who reside in Australia’s neighbouring countries. (Australasia & Oceania). This does not preclude applications from those who live outside this region.

Letters of Support
Support letters should always be on official letterhead and signed by someone who holds a position in a national deaf association. If there is no official national association, then a letter of support from a representative of the deaf association would be acceptable.

Please answer each question FULLY and ensure that it is signed and dated.
Incomplete applications and late applications will not be accepted.

Successful Applicant Requirements:

• Successful Applicants will be expected to promote the Creating Opportunities Fund by publicising their success in being granted funding
• Successful Applicants will be required to give a short presentation at the ANC09 on the topic of the Conference
• Successful Applicants will be required to provide a Report following the Conference about how attending the Conference was of benefit. This Report will be made available for publication by the ANC09.

A Grant is made but you cannot attend:

If an Applicant is unable to attend after having obtained funding, the following criteria apply:

All payments made must be returned to ANC09.

Where a successful applicant is unable to attend the Conference, the ANC09 sub-committee will make all decisions and will consider all circumstances in relation to returned funds
